This STILLEN supercharger system took over a year to develop and involves revolutionary designs to offer customers easy upgradability and installation.

With this supercharger system, power for the 350Z and G35 is boosted to 450 horsepower at the crank (or 360-375whp), and this system won’t give you a hard time when you need to smog, because these kits are CARB Exempt. Thanks to that CARB Exempt EO#, this means when smog – or inspection – rolls around, your car is 100% emissions legal. Since California is the strictest state in the union when it comes to emissions, if it passes CA standards, it probably will pass your local regulations. (Be sure to check your local laws to ensure you’re compliant anyways)

Air to water intercooler: By redesigning the intake manifold we were able to incorporate the intercooler inside the manifold, thus allowing us to cool the air charge immediately before the air enters the engine.

On the dual throttle body VQ35HR engines found in 2008-09 Nissan 350Z and 2008-09 Infiniti G35, power is slightly lower than the VQ37HR, due to the engine being smaller and the fact that VQ37HR has VVEL whereas the VQ35HR does not. Power output is typically around 450 horsepower to the crank (stock is 300hp to the crank), which ends up working out to around 360whp, in most cases.

Additionally, the front mounted heat exchanger does not block the airflow supplying cool air to other vital coolers such as the radiator, engine oil cooler, transmission cooler, power steering cooler or the A/C condenser.

Because water is 4 times more efficient at dissipating heat than air, we are able to utilize a more compact heat exchanger to cool the water.

Subtle clues hint at the potential of this 370Z…

Tom S. brought his 2010 Nismo 370Z to STILLEN with big plans. He wanted raise the performance level of his Z in every aspect possible. We sat down and went through all the upgrades and how they would benefit the car. In the end Tom made his decisions wisely.

He chose the STILLEN 370Z Supercharger Kit (407770NP) paired with the STILLEN 370Z SS Cat-Back Exhaust (504355) for added power. Taking the Nismo from 350hp to over 500hp is absolutely mind bending. With the added power from the STILLEN 370Z supercharger, the Z’s slight handicap in the straights is gone. Throw in the STILLEN Short Throw Shifter (452352) for quicker shifts and you’ve got yourself a competitor off the line.

We all know the VQ37 has heat issues. We always suggest the STILLEN Setrab 25 Row Oil Cooler (400638) to keep those oil temperatures down and your Z out of limp mode.

Any 370Z owner can tell you the car handles pretty well out of the box. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t improve upon that as well. The best handling upgrade for the Z is definitely the STILLEN Sway Bars (304375). With the car setup from the factory with safe understeer in mind, balancing out the body roll and oversteer/understeer dynamics is a huge improvement (read more about 370Z sway bars here: STILLEN Buying Guide – Aftermarket Swaybars).

We round out the rest of the suspension with the top of the line RS-R Sports-i Coilovers (RSRXSPIN134M). RS-R makes one of the best street performance coilovers we have ever tested. They are incredibly comfortable on the street but can still perform on the track and twisty roads. We left the ride height at the RS-R factory preset which gives us ideal suspension geometry for handling as well as plenty of clearance for speed bumps and steep driveways. SPC Front Upper Control Arm Kit (SPC72130) & SPC Rear Camber Arm Kit (SPC72262) were both installed to make sure we are able to set up our alignment perfectly to take advantage of all our new suspension mods and not burn through tires too quickly.

What good is power with no control, and what good is going fast if you can’t stop right? Well believe us…this car can stop. Tom S. wanted the best, and he got it (with his own personal touch too). The AP Racing by STILLEN Radi-CAL Big Brake Kit (APR57100 & APR37702) in Solar Orange (custom option) are the finishing touch on this Z. With more stopping power than a GTR, controlling all the power we added is easy.

This Supercharged Z is an absolute blast to drive. The car made 430 whp and 318 ft-lbs of torque on our Dyno (on California 91 Octane gas). We know the owner will absolutely love the results and we are looking forward to our next unique build. Who knows, it might be your car on our blog next.

After the install was complete, we put the 370z on the dyno to see how much power it was making. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what the owner was looking for. To get a bit more, our experts suggested he try a STILLEN 370Z cat-back exhaust (504355). STILLEN is proud to announce we are nearing completion for the Nissan 370Z / Infiniti G37 Supercharger System. As we approach production, we will be updating the progress as frequently as possible on our blog. We’ll start with the concept, and some insight into the development process.

This 3.7L supercharger development began in late 2008 and moved steadily through 2009.  We had a bit of a delay in the development while the STILLEN R35 GT-R was prepared for Targa Newfoundland, but after that car was completed it was back to business on the supercharger!  We have just started the new year in 2010 and we are excited to say the supercharger is nearly finished!  Here is a re-cap on our development and some of the engineering that went into making this kit come to life!

When the 350Z came out in 2003, championship-winning driver for Nissan, Steve Millen (our founder) and our engineers sat down to discuss the main goals for the STILLEN forced induction solution. Given our history of developing products that were high quality and well suited to each platform, the consensus was clear; the STILLEN VQ35 Supercharger System had to achieve CARB EXEMPT status, and we had to offer a 3 year/36,000 mile engine warranty.  The system had to be a turn key, ready to run kit and offer great power gains.  To meet those rather challenging demands, Steve and the STILLEN engineers evaluated many blower options, but ultimately decided on the Eaton MP62 blower.  It met all of the requirements and worked perfectly!  That kit was a complete success and was the first supercharger on the market to achieve CARB Exemption and offer an engine warranty, with gains of approximately 100 horsepower at the wheels.

When the new VQ37 engines came out, Steve again sat down with the engineers to discuss what was the best method of forced induction for the 370Z and G37.  Although the VQ35 roots supercharger was a complete success, we did learn a lot about what our customers wanted and what they would have preferred.  We learned that some people do not want to change their hoods to accommodate the clearance for the supercharger.  We also learned that even though some people want a CARB EXEMPT, warrantied kit TODAY, in a year or two they might want to upgrade the system to get even more power.  Unfortunately the MP62 blower used on the VQ35 kit does not have the peak horsepower potential of some of the other forms of forced induction.  It offers great bottom end but can get a bit choked off at high RPM when running higher levels of boost.

With these points in mind the ultimate decision was made to go with the Vortech Centrifugal Supercharger.  The Vortech unit offers higher peak horsepower potentials and enables fitment under the hood for a clean installation.  STILLEN has partnered with Vortech in the past to develop supercharger systems for other cars such as the Mercedes CLK430 and other Nissan vehicles like the Maxima and Xterra.

The STILLEN VQ37 Supercharger System will have 3 Stages:

  1. Tuner Kit – All the hardware and equipment minus the fuel management. This kit should be ready in about two months or so. Look for it around the end of February beginning of March.
  2. CARB EXEMPT Kit – This kit will be 50-state legal, and while it won’t have as much power as the other stages it WILL be street legal! More than likely this kit will be running around 6 psi. The release of this kit greatly revolves around the amount of time it takes CARB to grant us a test date and review our results. We can’t give a solid ETA on this because it really is up to CARB to grant us the EO#.
  3. Competition Kit – This will be a pre-tuned race kit that will not come with any warranty and will not be 50-state street legal but it will be a bolt in kit for the guys looking for a bit more power but don’t want to bother with figuring out their own tuning. This kit will be developed along side the Tuner kit so look for it to be released around the beginning of March.
