As the only Authorized Southern California Whipple installer, STILLEN performance shop has been busy this summer installing Whipple superchargers on a lot of different vehicles. Even with the variety of vehicles coming in, the darling of the performance shop is the Ford SVT Raptor – it seems that every Raptor owner in SoCal wants to get a little extra power out of their engines and we’re more than happy to oblige!

A couple of weeks ago, we had a beastly blue Raptor come visit STILLEN for a Whipple supercharger.

Big Blue, Big Power with Whipple Supercharger Install

The owner of this big blue beast was looking for more power to cruise around the streets of LA and tear up the local deserts while off-roading, so our experts recommended getting a Whipple supercharger for SVT Raptor installed. However, like many owners that install superchargers, this Raptor owner noticed that wheel hop was becoming a bit of a problem. His truck was just making too much power! Since toning down the power wasn’t an option (who would want to do that?!), we recommend that he install a bump stop kit.

Now that he’s had the work completed for a couple of weeks, he loves the power the Whipple supercharger is making for his Raptor and his truck is no longer suffering from wheel hop. While we have a strong racing heritage here at STILLEN, it’s not as well known that we also have an appreciation for drift cars. STILLEN founder, Steve Millen and the Millen family have quite the history hooning RWD cars before we ever called it ‘drifting’. Steve Millen and his brother, Rod Millen, were actually some of the first to drift on national TV with their 1989 Nissan 240SX TV commercial, and later Rod’s son, Rhys Millen, was one of the first professionals Drifting in the USA. As most brothers tend to be, Steve and Rod have always been very competitive, even having raced professionally against each other, which makes the title “Me and My Shadow” especially fitting.

Quantum Auto Sport’s Drifter 370Z Supercharger Install

With this history at STILLEN, you can imagine our excitement when we heard one of our vendors, Quantum Auto Sport, was installing a STILLEN supercharger on 370Z drift car. We have a long history with Quantum Auto Sport and they are one of our premier supercharger installers in Europe. Their team has actually installed most of the STILLEN 350Z superchargers in Germany and are Uprev Pro Dealers, so it’s great to see them continuing the tradition with the 370Z. Even with such a long history of working together, it’s always exciting to know that another STILLEN supercharger will be tearing up the streets overseas.

As you can see, 370Z drifter is making a ton of power with its new STILLEN supercharger – even enough to move the suction pipe (approximately minute 0:48)! The results of the dyno showed that the 370Z drifter made 460 horsepower with the STILLEN supercharger kit installed. Now, we can’t wait to see the video of this 370Z drifting after the supercharger install!

When we heard about the Whipple Challenger SRT8 supercharger release, the STILLEN team was abuzz talking about the system, its features and its design. Here are a few reasons we are excited about this system:

Cool Design

When we say that the Whipple SRT8 supercharger has a cool design, we aren’t just talking about its looks. We’re talking about its functionality. This supercharger features a huge air-to-water aluminum bar-plate intercooler that offers more cooling than any other positive displacement system on the market. Additionally, it includes a massive aluminum intercooler reservoir that holds twice the intercooler water its competitors are able to hold and comes with an oversized, self-contained oil system. If that wasn’t enough, it also features an oversized intercooled air-bypass system. With all of these cooling features, you can be sure the Whipple SRT8 supercharger is using the most advanced technology possible keep your engine cool and make a lot of power.

MSD Fuel Pump

The Whipple Challenger SRT8 supercharger comes with the MSD fuel pump booster, which has a pre-defined voltage curve. This means that there is less pump duty cycle then other pump boosters and it only supplies an increased voltage when it is needed. Plus the pump booster voltage can be adjusted by user and there is no need to purchase the “competition” version as it is already included.

Plug & Play

While we definitely don’t suggest trying to install the Whipple Dodge Challenger SRT8 supercharger kit yourself, it does a have a bit of a plug and play functionality to it. There are no internal engine modifications required for installation and the kits come with all parts and hardware necessary for installation. Additionally, the wiring is easier to work with than other kits with male and female connects and comes with OEM quick connect fittings for an easier installation. For you, this means less installation expense and less time in the shop so you’ll be tearing up the streets in your supercharged 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger in no time!

Built to Last

Taking about power and torque is great, but the true test of a well-built supercharger is how long it makes that big power for you. Coming out of retirement and ready to win another race, Steve Millen, No. 75 Nissan 300ZX and the original crew are racing at the 2014 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in Monterey, CA to celebrate his winning 1994 season. As you can imagine, the STILLEN team is looking forward to be celebrating the anniversary and to see our founder back on the track racing the iconic No. 75 car. There is no one more excited than Steve Millen, who had this to say about the upcoming race, “The past 20 years have flown by like they were 24 hours, so getting back behind the wheel of the No. 75 with the support of many of the original team members will be like stepping into a time machine. People might forget that this car was so dominant in 1994 that IMSA banned its twin-turbo V6 engine. I think we’ve got a great chance to bring it into Victory Lane one more time against some other amazing race cars at Laguna Seca. I can’t wait.”

The sentiment is also shared by Nissan, who will be setting up a display in the Laguna Seca garage area that will support the No. 75 Nissan 300ZX’s return to competition. Additionally, the display will showcase Nissan’s newest sports cars – the Nissan 370Z NISMO and Nissan GT-R NISMO.  As Pierre Loing, Vice President of Product Planning at Nissan North America, Inc. said, “From the original 1994 Le Mans inspection sticker to the twin-turbo V6 and Nissan 5-speed Hewland gearbox, the No. 75 is the real deal and we can’t wait to see it back on the track at speed with Steve Millen at the controls.”

This particular chassis is especially close to Millen’s heart as it is the most successful chassis from the NISSAN IMSA 300ZX campaign. Steve won more races, set more lap records, and pole positions in this particular car than any other car.

All-in-One Kit

Gone are the days of building your own air suspension kits. Having to source your own Air Bags that fit your struts, installing custom air lines, and getting an air compressor on top of souring a management system can be fun for some people. However for most, it is not and it can be quite expensive! If you fall into the second group that doesn’t want to build their own kit, AirREX has decided to take the fitment issues, difficult installation and headache out of the equation with their complete Digital Air Suspension Kits.

These kits come with everything you need: Front and Rear Struts, Air Springs, Compressor Lines, Wiring, and an Air Management System Complete with Controller, Wireless Remote, Compressor, and Solenoids. The solenoids are available as pre-assembled in a sealed box or unassembled for custom installations. Plus, the AirREX suspension system can be installed in almost the same amount of time as a coilover system and is designed with form, function, and performance in mind.
