While we regularly hold training sessions with our vendors to keep up with their latest product lines and to brush up on their existing product lines, it’s not every day our vendors show up with a red hot Chevy Camaro as their training material. Recently, Magnuson superchargers did just that to introduce us to their new Heartbeat Supercharger.

More Efficiency, More Power

To start out the training, our sales rep reviewed the details of the new Heartbeat supercharger system with us. One key improvement over their previous systems and their competitors’ systems is an improved intercooling system. By utilizing Formula 1 and NASCAR heat exchanger technology to make their cooling system more efficient, they were able to avoid heat soak, bring down the IATs which provides more consistent performance from the new Heartbeat line of superchargers. Here are a few other benefits of this system:

  • Includes a cast aluminum intake manifold
  • Fuel system comes with factory push-lock connectors for an easier installation
  • Kit includes twin dual-pass charge air coolers, coolant circulation pump, heat exchanger and all necessary installation hardware

With all of these upgrades, you’re probably wondering, as we were, “How much power does this system actually make?” Looking at the Magnuson Heartbeat supercharger for 2008-2013 Chevrolet Corvette, you can expect over 900 HP at 10-11 psi with this system. This is more than 25 HP than their previous system and 46 HP more than their competitors’ systems were able to produce in independent testing.

Seeing the Heartbeat Supercharger in Action

After hearing all of this, we were excited to see the Heartbeat supercharger in action. That’s when we were able to get a sneak peak of one of their systems that will be available soon – the Magnuson Heartbeat Supercharger for the Chevy Camaro! This particular system was installed on a new 2014 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE. We couldn’t get specifics, but it is rumored that this kit has been tested to produce 500+ hp to the wheels!

“Wait, is that a Sentra?” This is the reaction many people have been having when they see the Sansone JR’s Route 66 Nissan‘s STILLEN customized Sentra. As you can see from the photo below, they are saying it with good reason – it has a sleek, aggressive look that is completely different from the stock Nissan Sentra next to it.

Remaking the Sansone JR’s Route 66 Nissan Sentra

First, the Sansone JR’s Route 66 Nissan team started by adding the STILLEN Sentra front lip spoiler, STILLEN KB13344 roof spoiler, and STILLEN KB13343rear spoiler. Like all of the urethane body components we manufacturer, these parts are designed and manufactured in the US at our in-house studio and come with a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. You know you’re buying quality when you purchase STILLEN body kits and components!

To take their custom look a step further, they lowered the Sentra with RS-R N205D Down lowering springs. While this dropped the car by approximately 1″, you wouldn’t know it based on the ride quality… RS-R is known for providing customers with a nice drop, great performance and a factory-like comfortable ride. This allows you to get the look you want and still enjoy a comfortable ride.

To get a custom sound and a bit more performance, the Sansone JR’s Route 66 team added the STILLEN 504235 rear section exhaust. This exhaust features mandrel bent stainless steel for a long service life and a free flowing performance muffler with polished stainless steel tips. It also offers the signature STILLEN sound that is tame when driven normally, but quickly transforms to an aggressive, authoritative tone when pushed.

Last, but certainly not least, they finished off the project by wrapping the custom Sentra in a Deep Black matte vinyl finish and wrapped the trim in black or painted bronze to match the Klutch SL5 wheels.  Additionally, the portions of the headlights and taillights are wrapped in a sleek, dark tint to complete the aggressive look the Sansone JR’s Route 66 Nissan team was going for.

He and a few others from the STILLEN team have been invited by Nissan to attend this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend in celebration. Needless to say, everyone here at STILLEN is excited to celebrate the anniversary and we’re all looking forward to watching this year’s race unfold.

2014 24 Hours of Le Mans Race Entries to Watch

This year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is going to be a great competition with a lot of very qualified teams racing and a lot of new technology on the track. Below, we’ve listed a few of the cars we’re excited to see run.

Audi R18 vs. Porsche 919

As sibling rivalries go, this feud is pretty intense – both teams desperately want to win and have made some strong improvements to their cars to try to get a leg up on the competition. Watching these two teams compete against one-another on the track will definitely be one of the highlights this weekend. Here are a few reasons we’re looking forward to seeing these cars run:

Audi R18:

  • The front axle is electronically powered, making the R18 the first Audi race car not powered exclusively by a combustion engine
  • Ultra-light weight design with a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque (introduced in 2011)
  • Carbon fiber composite casing gearbox
  • 3.7 liter V6 TDI engine with mono turbo charger makes 490 hp and 850 Nm of torque

Porsche 919:

  • Turbo charged 2 liter 4 cyl engine with direct fuel injection
  • Combustion engine is supported by two energy recovery systems and stored in a liquid cooled lithium ion battery

  • Makes up to 500 hp + electric machine makes up to 250 hp

Nissan ZEOD

This is probably the car we are most excited about seeing run. Not only does it look like it shouldn’t be fast (but actually is very fast), but it will run a portion of the race on electricity only. In fact the goal for the Nissan ZEOD is to be the first car to complete a full lap around the Le Mans circuit under 100% electric power with no assist from the gasoline engine and still maintain top speeds – pretty impressive to say the least. Here are a few more reasons to be impressed:

  • 1.5 liter 3 cyl turbo makes 400 hp from a 40kg engine
  • A single lap of each stint will be powered by electricity only
  • DIG-T R engine specs:
    • Weight: 88 lbs.
    • Dimensions: 19.68” x 15.74” x 7.78”
  • Revs to 7500 rpm and produces 380 Nm of torque
  • Has 10 hp/kg – this means this engine has a better power-to-weight ratio than Formula 1 cars
