We are proud to announce the release of the STILLEN Towhook Mount License Plate Bracket for the R35 Nissan GT-R. This utilizes the 24mm tow hook at the front of the vehicle, accessible via the existing tow hook opening.

The STILLEN License Plate Bracket matches the curves of the GT-R fascia for perfect fitment, and can be installed and removed in minutes.

Don’t let your dealership ruin your front fascia by drilling a license plate holder directly into the bumper! Save your front end and be legally compliant displaying a front plate with this bracket.

For those lucky enough to be in a state which requires a mounted visible front plate, with this bracket, you won’t have to worry about the police using that as an excuse to get a closer look at your Nissan GT-R.

In 2014 Nissan released digital images of their 2020 Vision Gran Turismo for the popular video game. It was designed to be a concept of future Nissan’s that you can experience in this virtual world. Now at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show we see this concept come to life.

Nissan says, “Adapting design cues from current Nissan performance models, it was created from scratch using the latest digital design tools”. This is the first physical embodiment of the concept people were talking so much about just a year ago. The speculation that this is the GTR R36 might still be a stretch, but there is a good chance the styling cues seen on this concept will be present on the next “Godzilla” iteration.

We don’t expect to see anything official on the R36 any time soon as Nissan just demolished almost every production cars time on the Nürburgring with the GTR Nismo N-Attack. There is a good chance Nissan is just waiting for the rest of the car world to step up their game before releasing their next supercar killer. It is hard to say what exactly the plan is for this Legend, but no matter the outcome, it is fun to speculate.

The annual OC Auto Show has always been a great way for Orange County Residents to see what is current in the Automotive world without having to make the big trek up to Los Angeles a month later.

If you are in Orange County and want a convenient way to go look at all the cars currently on the market and a few prototypes as well, the Auto Show is a great event. There are definitely some great cars that we found interesting and exciting. Our top 3 would have to be…

Toyota FT-1:

The “Supra Successor” has been a big topic of discussion in the car community for years. While there are still a lot of detail unreleased, if this car makes it to production in the near future it will be epic. If you haven’t had a chance to see it in person, photos don’t do it justice.

Ford Focus RS:

The epic hatch is filling the empty shoes left by the late Mitsubishi Evo X. With a 2.3L Turbocharged Engine putting down around 350 HP to all 4 wheels. Looks like the Subaru WRX STI is gonna have some competition again.

Lexus GS-F:

Lexus has been teasing GS owners for years with the idea of a M5 competitor. With the newest generation of the GS released, Lexus has finally delivered on their promise. Though not the most stunning in stock form, we feel the body lines and shape have great potential to our fellow enthusiasts out there.

If you want to check everything out in person tickets are only $12.00 and the show runs from now through Sunday (Oct. 18th).

STILLEN is a company that is proud to be owned and operated by automotive enthusiasts. This month’s employee spotlight is on another one of our veterans here.

Kenny Duong

IMG_8934

Kenny has been a performance specialist at STILLEN since 1999. Before working for STILLEN, he was already an avid car enthusiast. Kenny has owned some of the most Iconic cars from the 90’s imaginable. When he started at STILLEN he drove a FD RX-7 and has had cars like the S13 240SX and MKIV TT Supra in his stable. Now as time passes our taste in cars can change. Kenny decided to switch things up around 2012 and got himself a 997 911 Turbo, “That car is amazing!”. As many of have experienced, as we have matured our tastes in cars have changed a little, but there is that magical appeal of those dream cars from years past. Cars like the 300ZX, RX7, Supra, NSX, etc will always hold a special place in our hearts and always tempt us to bring one home. There is one car for most import tuning enthusiasts that some might call the “holy grail” which is the Nissan Skyline GTR. A performance car that was never legalized in the States and is more rare to see than almost any super car does not usually cross people’s minds when they are considering a car to purchase. We won’t go through all the details, but a handful of R32 and R33 Skylines were legalized here in the US and are very sought after.

R33 Skyline GTR

Kenny felt that itch to own a piece of Tuner Car history and set out on a mission to buy a Skyline. After months of searching, Kenny finally found his Federal and California Legal R33 Skyline GTR. Many of us here at STILLEN could tell you about those months spent searching and we got to see the struggle as well as the excitement when the car was finally in his possession. Kenny loves owning such a rare car and is really a dream come true.

If you ever get a chance to talk to Kenny over the phone or in person, make sure to ask him about his Skyline.

The Nissan Altima has been a major contender in the mid-sized market for decades. The past five years have proven to be the most successful for the not so little sedan. With this recent track record it is no surprise that they decided to do a facelift to keep up with the rest of the Nissan lineup. A mid model refresh is not uncommon, but they went a little further than that.

DSC05644

As you can see in the photos, the 2016 Altima Sedan’s new styling cues have adopted the new “Energetic Flow” design that guided the inspiration of the new Murano and Maxima. On top of the styling updates, this redesign also changes the performance and dynamics of the car.

Improvements include:

Reduced coefficient of drag – 0.26 Cd (down from 0.29 Cd)

Weight reduction

Increased structural rigidity

Reduced NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness)

Increased Fuel Economy (for 2.5L and 3.5L variants)

Along with the standard changes, Nissan has added a SR trim to both the 2.5L and 3.5L models. The SR will be the “sporty” options for those looking for some added performance and style from the factory. The SR trim will feature things like 18 inch wheels, revised suspension, and a manual paddle shifting mode. Styling wise, the SR will feature smoked headlight housings, DRL’s, Fogs Lights, and a rear spoiler.

As usual, STILLEN is excited to get our hands on one of these new Altima’s and see what we can do with it. We love where Nissan is heading with it’s unique styling and improved performance. You can expect to see some sporty body components and performance upgrades from STILLEN in the near future.

Here is a quick rendering of what we think the Altima could look like with just a few simple mods.

We gave you the heads up earlier this month that we were in development of the STILLEN 2012-15 Urethane Protective Skid Plate for the new 2012 DBA-R35 GT-R’s (we already offer a STILLEN Urethane Protective Skid Plate for 2009-11 Nissan GT-R [R35]), and we’re proud to announce that these have been completed and are now shipping!

STILLEN founder, Steve Millen, Driving in the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans

If you have been following the STILLEN Facebook page or STILLEN Instagram, you know we’re getting pretty excited about this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you haven’tbeen following, let us catch you up.. It’s the 20th anniversary of STILLEN founder, Steve Millen’s win at Le Mans. He and a few others from the STILLEN team have been invited by Nissan to attend this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend in celebration. Needless to say, everyone here at STILLEN is excited to celebrate the anniversary and we’re all looking forward to watching this year’s race unfold.

2014 24 Hours of Le Mans Race Entries to Watch

This year, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is going to be a great competition with a lot of very qualified teams racing and a lot of new technology on the track. Below, we’ve listed a few of the cars we’re excited to see run.

Audi R18 vs. Porsche 919

As sibling rivalries go, this feud is pretty intense – both teams desperately want to win and have made some strong improvements to their cars to try to get a leg up on the competition. Watching these two teams compete against one-another on the track will definitely be one of the highlights this weekend. Here are a few reasons we’re looking forward to seeing these cars run:

Audi R18:

  • The front axle is electronically powered, making the R18 the first Audi race car not powered exclusively by a combustion engine
  • Ultra-light weight design with a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque (introduced in 2011)
  • Carbon fiber composite casing gearbox
  • 3.7 liter V6 TDI engine with mono turbo charger makes 490 hp and 850 Nm of torque

Read more about the Audi R18 specs here.

Porsche 919:

  • Turbo charged 2 liter 4 cyl engine with direct fuel injection
  • Combustion engine is supported by two energy recovery systems and stored in a liquid cooled lithium ion battery
  • Made of carbon, high strength aluminum, magnesium and titanium alloys combined with an expert construction to achieve a lightweight, efficient design
  • Makes up to 500 hp + electric machine makes up to 250 hp

Read more about the Porsche 919 specs here.

Nissan ZEOD

This is probably the car we are most excited about seeing run. Not only does it look like it shouldn’t be fast (but actually is very fast), but it will run a portion of the race on electricity only. In fact the goal for the Nissan ZEOD is to be the first car to complete a full lap around the Le Mans circuit under 100% electric power with no assist from the gasoline engine and still maintain top speeds – pretty impressive to say the least. Here are a few more reasons to be impressed:

  • 1.5 liter 3 cyl turbo makes 400 hp from a 40kg engine
  • A single lap of each stint will be powered by electricity only
  • DIG-T R engine specs:
    • Weight: 88 lbs.
    • Dimensions: 19.68” x 15.74” x 7.78”
  • Revs to 7500 rpm and produces 380 Nm of torque
  • Has 10 hp/kg – this means this engine has a better power-to-weight ratio than Formula 1 cars

For more information on the Nissan ZEOD, check out Nissan’s press release here.

Good for 18.5WHP / 13WTQ Power Gain – CARB EXEMPT EO# D-436-22

Just announced… STILLEN cold air intakes for Nissan and Infiniti vehicles have been granted CARB EXEMPT EO#’s through 2014! For over 20 years, STILLEN has worked with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to develop products that are compliant with OE standards of total vehicle integration and performance while still satisfying emission control regulations. With this long history in mind, STILLEN is proud to announce the cold air intakes for the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 have been granted CARB EXEMPT Executive Order numbers. These numbers mean that the part has been shown not to alter or modify the design or performance of the factory emissions control equipment. While a typical aftermarket intake will automatically fail visual inspection, intakes with a CARB EO# will not fail a visual inspection, allowing the car to still be emissions tested as usual. We are equally proud to announce year range extensions for the 2014 370Z , Maxima and more. For a full list of vehicle applications, please see below.

STILLEN was the first company to prove that a cold air intake on the VQ37 engine could actually make power and is still recognized as the leading cold air intake with the highly sought after Generation 3 long tube cold air intakes for the 370Z, G37 and Q60.   It took 6 months of in-house R&D and testing and 56 different variations of prototype intake systems but it was all worth it and the end result was the leading cold air intake for the VQ37 equipped vehicles.

Nissan Titan Air Intake

STILLEN Air Intake for Nissan Titan CARB EXEMPT EO# D-436-22 is good for a 15WHP / 27WTQ Power Gain At The Wheels

When it came time to manufacturing air intake systems for vehicles like the Altima, Maxima, Titan, Frontier, etc. STILLEN leaned on its vast experience in manufacturing high performance parts for NISSAN/INFINITI vehicles.  On the Nissan Altima and Maxima applications STILLEN is the only manufacturer of high performance intakes that incorporates a poly-urethane ducted air intake path leading fresh air from behind the factory grille directly into the air intake filter.  Included in many of these kits is STILLEN’s unique velocity ring which increases the velocity of the air as it is drawn into the engine thus producing more power!

Note: The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is a division of the California state government and is widely recognized for having the most stringent emissions control regulations in the United States. Therefore, each of the 50 states recognizes its standards as the emissions standard for all performance parts. Each performance part that achieves CARB EXEMPT status is considered 50-state legal.

STILLEN is proud to announce the 2011-2014 Nissan Juke all-wheel drive rear sway bar is now available.  The STILLEN 2011-2014 Nissan Juke AWD Rear Sway Bar is rear mounted and offers more rigidity than the factory rear sway bar to aid in cornering and vehicle stability.  STILLEN has designed this sway bar to be stiffer than the factory bar which will allow for better turn-in, rotation, and overall improved stability when pushing either a Nissan or Nismo Juke hard through canyon roads, on the track, or even trying to get to work in the morning!

A common complaint on all wheel drive vehicles is the experience of “understeer.”  Understeer is where you are driving the car spiritedly and the car doesn’t want to rotate through the turn.  Instead the front tires just “push” or “under steer.”  By stiffening the rear suspension, the chassis will be more planted and allow the car to rotate better which gives drivers a more positive feel as they accelerate through turns.

STILLEN Rear Sway Bar.
The STILLEN sway bar for the AWD Nissan & Nismo Juke is:

•    Made out of high-tensile strength steel.
•    Incorporates precision laser cut end link brackets.
•    Finished in a brilliant red powder coat finish.
•    Protects against corrosion and wear & tear.
•    Designed to keep the underside of the car looking great!
•    Backed with a STILLEN lifetime guarantee!
