STILLEN

Most people immediately associate STILLEN with everything Nissan, while we do pride ourselves on our extensive knowledge of the name plate that was the corner stone of our founder Steve Millen’s racing career. We also, pride ourselves in our knowledge of just about every other make and model as well. We treat every car that comes into our performance center with extreme care and respect. From routine oil changes, to motor swaps, to brake jobs, there is never a corner cut or a shortcut taken in the work we do for our customer vehicles.  We are glad to see that word of this commitment to quality is spreading faster than ever,  a quick snapshot of the vehicles in our Performance Center today further illustrates this.

This customer is blending the line between street and track with an amazing suspension set up and a front and rear set of AP RACING brakes for his Subaru WRX STI

A different customer brought in his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro to get a Cat-back exhaust system installed in order to unleash the power and the sounds of his 6.2L  L99 Camaro SS.

We have a beautiful Nismo 350z in the corner of our shop getting a tune up and a Stage 3 Supercharger installed.

On our alignment rack we have a 2011 GT-R getting some angle dialed into it’s suspension in order to make it handle even better on the street and track.

If you happen to own a specialty vehicle and feel it deserves to get the respect and attention you put into it by a PROFESSIONAL mechanic. Please don’t hesitate to give us a ring. 1-866-250-5542 One of our specialists will gladly set up and appointment for you and make sure your ride gets the attention it deserves.

The SUBARU BRZ / SCION FRS is taking the sport compact world by storm and naturally the masterminds in our RD department have got the creative juices flowing in order to bring more excitement to this fantastic platform.

I can’t say what parts we currently have in the works so I’ll end this post with a question to all you FRS / BRZ owners.
What parts would you like to see us develop first for this bad boy?

A few months ago, we got a flurry of inquiries regarding a STILLEN front lip for the 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan and we are proud to announce all your questions have been answered. The 2012 NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN STILLEN FRONT LIP is now available.
It looks pretty awesome on just about any color Altima,

It’s one of those days when almost every flavor of horsepower deliciousness is represented inside our Performance Center today. I gotta say it’s day’s like today that really give me an appreciation for all the amazing work our guys in our shop can do.

On our alignment rack we have a very sleek / innocent looking 350z … that is until you spot the all business 6 pot AP RACING brakes tucked behind the NISMO wheels.

350z Getting 6 pot AP RACING brakes

Every corner of the shop has something glorious stuffed in it, on our lift next the the alignment rack, we have a GORGEOUS Amuse kitted 370z

Right next the the Amuse 370z, we have a 350z getting some forced induction love by way of a STILLEN STAGE 3 Supercharger.

In front of the newly boosted 350z we have some good old fashioned american muscle by way of a FORD GT that is getting a new STILLEN exhaust fitted onto the back of it.

Hiding behind the Ford GT lies some more horsepower god’s just waiting to lay down some power on the streets.

Since we are already on the subject of American, here’s an insanely powerful Stroked, Cammed and Supercharged Dodge Charger….

Last time we dyno tuned it, we had to limit the power because the beast ran out of fuel. So today the Charger is getting bigger injectors and a higher volume fuel pump installed. I can’t wait to see how much power this thing can put down.

In front of the Charger is another FORD GT that is getting some good old fashioned Coilovers installed to take it up to a whole new level.

Next to the FORD GT we have a twin pair of twin turbo’d 300zx’s that are getting tune up’s to make sure their VG30DETT’S run strong for another 15 years.

And Big green elephant in the room that everyone wants to know about is a 800+ WHP Toyota Supra that has an engine bay clean enough to eat every meal of your life off of.

It turns out, this customer’s Supra was built by STILLEN around 10 years ago and every year since then he has added more and more to it. As it stands now, the 2jZ with the STOCK bottom end is putting out just over 800 horsepower to the wheels!!!! This is one Supra I most definitely will never forget.

If this isn’t a testament to the quality of work our performance center does EVERY DAY… I don’t know what is. Well maybe the fact that we have been doing stuff like this for 20+ years could count too. 🙂

They say a picture is worth a thousand words right? Well, thank goodness for Instagram.  In case you aren’t following us already, make sure you point your smart phone to our feed (STILLEN) and click follow. You can expect to see project vehicles of the past and of the present, product specials, promotions, and other photos of general awesomeness.

Make sure you stay tuned, because we might just throw an INSTAGRAM only contest up pretty soon. 😉

Since today marks the unofficial start of the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America with the first drivers meeting of the year, we thought it would be fitting to highlight some of the vehicles running STILLEN products.

The One Lap of America is one of those racing series that is as equally bad ass as it is grassroots, as quoted from the One Lap of America website: ” The TIRE RACK ONE LAP OF AMERICA is the toughest 8 days of racing featuring the fastest street-legal cars on America’s most challenging racetracks.”

Ill sum up what makes this series so awesome in a couple short bullet points.

– Drivers must drive to 9 racetracks across the county to compete in Time attack, Drag and Skidpad events in the same car they will be competing in.

– Drivers only get ONE set of street radial tires (tread wear 140 or above)  to complete the 5000 mile journey and track events in.

-The driver with the most points at the end of 8 days wins

Very simple yet very intense.

Last year’s winner TOPSPEED motorsports ran our AP RACING J-hook rotors for their 2011 campaign, they loved them so much they decided to run them again this year.

TOPSPEED motorsports aren’ the only guys running the J-HOOK rotors… Forged performance opted for the tried and true formula as well.

The SPEED CONCEPTS team is running the DBA Curved Vane rotors and STILLEN sway bar products on their GT-R

I’m sure I’m missing a few other GT-R teams that are running STILLEN product so if any one has any info or news they want to sent over please have them email me at msabounchi@stillen.com

We wish everyone the best of luck and we can’t wait to see how this year turns out.

It’s the middle of the week and our Performance Center is operating on all cylinders today, excuse the horrible pun please.  We have a car in just about every department getting the attention they deserve.

Aaron is taking care of a G35 on the dyno, and releasing some reliable torque and horsepower by way of an UP REV tune.

We have a twin pair of FORD GT’s getting some suspension love by way of PENSKE coilovers and alignment.

It doesn’t get much better than a brand new set of external reservoir Penske 8300 Shock absorbers.

Not only do we have one gorgeous 370z in the shop but we have two, getting some routine maintenance done…

As you can see, the guys in the Performance Center have had a very busy day, but that’s not to say we don’t have time for new projects here at STILLEN. Make sure you give us a call if you need anything done, from oil changes to custom builds, these guys quite literally do it all.

Dealing with fast car’s all day long rarely gets boring, but sometimes the luster of seeing a “dream” car like a GTR simply just parked in our parking lot day after day can wear off. Thankfully some of our customers in Russia like to put their GTR’s through their paces. They also like to challenge their buddies with some other dream machines while doing so.

If you haven’t heard of DRAGTIMES-IFO, make sure you cruise over to their YouTube page and subscribe immediately! Their goal is to bring you the best Racing videos from Moscow, and their video of the UNLIM 500+ races are simply awe inspiring. That race is automotive greatness at its best.  Six categories of vehicles from the Italian, German, American, British and Japanese automotive industry all with a MANDATORY horsepower MINIMUM of 500+ are all competing to see who can post up the fastest standing mile time.  Lucky for us, those cars need a way to scrub off such immense speed numbers and that’s where our GTR Carbon Ceramic Matrix rotors come in.

These rotors represent the best of the best braking technology and are available for one of the best cars on the road today. As it turn’s out, they are very popular with the guys who regularly compete in the UNLIM 500+ series.  I’m sure you can imagine how quickly stock brakes can get warped when consistently stopping a car from 150+ mph, because of the CCM-X’s rotors ability to run 140 degrees cooler than the stock setup up, they are less prone to warping.  Check out the vid below for some jaw dropping standing mile action courtesy of DRAGTIMES-IFO.

Lately, we have been getting a ton of 370z questions regarding when we officially recommend tuning your 370Z after adding a few bolt on’s.  The 370z is a very potent car straight out of the box but as soon as you start adding one too many bolt on’s you can change the car’s optimal air/fuel ratio to actually start to hinder your motor. Instead of boring you with a horribly written “Guide to modding your 370z,” I’ll refer you to the IMPORT TUNER power pages article where they managed to massage an extra 40HP out of the VQ37VHR powerplant.

The article can be found here. 2009 Nissan 370Z Touring – Power Pages
Maybe that will help clear up the “what part adds what and when you should tune” debate. As they say in the article… THE DYNO DOESN’T LIE!

In terms of engine management, we recommend going the UPREV route, which we can also provide in-house tuning for at our STILLEN PERFORMANCE CENTER.

Plus we have plenty of other 370Z power adding goodies available if you want to step things up a little further than 40hp.

NISSAN 370Z STILLEN PERFORMANCE OPTIONS

Before we dive directly into the crazy action that went down this Saturday in Long Beach, I’d like to first thanks John P and everyone over at Formula D for accomodating us with press passes for the event. We had a wonderful time and we are already stoked for the next one.  Secondly, I’d like to say it’s amazing to see how much the sport has grown over the past six years. Cars are getting faster and faster (even with the new tire size rules) and drivers keep pushing the limits of their vehicles I can’t wait to see how much farther Formula Drift will go before the end of this season.

Our day at the Streets of Long Beach started rather early which gave us a good amount of time to get some test shots in and walk around the event before the mayhem ensued.

Our first destination was the car show area presented by FATLACE / SLAMMED SOCIETY because we wanted to check out as many cars as we could before too many people got in the way.

As soon as we crossed the bridge to the car show area, we noticed a beautiful widebody s2000 that happened to be running some serious AP RACING brakes.

It’s very hard to beat that set up in terms of looks and performance. I especially love the road debris still stuck on the sideskirts from the drive in.
After we were done drooling over the widebody glory we noticed a very clean 350z

The “It’sJDMYO 350z was running an equally as clean Supercharger set up that was tucked in the engine bay very well.
Right in front of the Supercharged Z was a fine example of what happens when you combine the best of two world’s when it comes to car design.

American muscle plus Japanese flavor make for a very clean and mean set up courtesy of JonSibal and Dodge.

After we walked our way through the car show, we noticed something you don’t see at too many car shows and we were extremely stoked to see it.

A sectioned off skate area that had everything from mini ramps to ledges to fun boxes made for some unexpected action. I almost ran to the car to grab my Psycho Stick and join in on the action until I saw this guy bust a Tail Blunt to varial and kill all my confidence. 🙂

There were some AMAZING cars on display that day and there were some cars that made us wonder if the owner just entered the car show for a good parking spot.  After we were done geeking out over show cars we directed our attention and lenses to some practice sessions.

As you could see the guys were wasting no time getting used to the track before qualifying sessions started and the crowds showed up. Darren Macnamara and Frederick Asbo were going hard all day long.

Everyone’s favorite new kid on the Block Daigo Saito was getting used to the car, the track, and judging his gaps all at the same time in a few of his first outings in his new car.

Saito wasn’t the only Japanese Driver laying down some heat early in the day. Daijiro Yoshihara was getting himself warmed up for qualifications as well.

After we were done watching the crazy practice sessions, we took it as a good opportunity to walk the rest of the midway and grab some lunch.

Ever get sick of driving in traffic on your way to work? Why not just drive OVER it?

After we were done stuffing our faces and getting some refuge from the sun, it was time to announce the top 16 drivers.

Everyone’s favorite new kid in town Daigo Saito was getting a lot of attention before it was time for him to strut his stuff.

Chris Forsberg was quite literally taking his driving to a whole new level for the top 16 round.

SPOILER ALERT!!: Justin Pawlak was looking to repeat his success in 2011….. He ended up achieving that goal and taking home the W.

Matt Powers was also looking to repeat last year’s results. He gave it his all against number one qualifier Ryan Tuerck and he ended up securing himself 4th place for the weekend.

Tyler McQuarrie can just about drive the pants off anything and judging by the insanely small gap between him and Ryan Kado I’d say he was wearing his not afraid pants that day.

Ken Gushi was showing off what the new GREDDY built FT86 could do, and it was looking great all weekend.

After all that was said and done with, the 2012 Long Beach Formula Drift podium ended up shaping up like this.

1ST JUSTIN PAWLAK

2ND DAIJIRO YOSHIHARA

3RD DAIGO SAITO

We are extremely excited to see how the rest of the season shapes up and we can’t wait to see our products in action for the rest of the year.
